6-11-24 THOUGHTS
We sort of continue with yesterday’s thoughts, from Rom 12:9-18. The common thread is our character-behavior in our belonging to God! Here’s a call to order in verse 11! It’s the call of all the prophets. “Now”s a critical time... WAKE UP!” “THE DAY IS AT HAND!” We are to “walk properly.” Part of “properly” is to “stop providing for the flesh to gratify its desires, and PUT ON THE LORD JESUS!” Luke 9:23 (Jesus talking) “And He was saying to [them] all, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.” Please dear Church, may we awaken fully to this idea and put it into our being as God’s children! The words “cast off” and “put on” are significant to allow all this! Luke 5:4 When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, "Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch."
Rom 13:8-14 ESV Owe no one anything, except to love each other, for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. 9 For the commandments, "You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet," and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." 10 Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. 11 Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. 12 The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13 Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and sensuality, not in quarreling and jealousy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.
My Prayer:
Father, awaken us to true and powerful living. Partner with us as we live for You. We need Your word, Your Spirit and Your continual presence in us. Complete in us Your great desire to save us from Satan and ourselves. Focus our hearts, minds and lives on what matters. Keep us from providing for the desires of our flesh! Thank You for a living hope in Jesus. Teach to worship You more fully. Increase our prayer life and our abiding in Your presence. In the name of our Savior, Amen.
